Acceptable election a must

THE Election Commission (EC) is now bracing itself for conducting the municipal and local government level elections throughout the country as a step forward for holding the national elections in time. It seems that all the major political parties are eager not only to participate in the local level elections but also want to win. It was reported that many parties have nominated candidates who have allegations of crimes, including corruption against them.

The EC is yet to make a pro-active stand regarding the candidature of these people. It is necessary to hold the local level elections in fair and impartial manner to make it acceptable to all. People's confidence over holding parliamentary elections in a fair manner is dependent on the success of these elections. Not only holding of the national elections in a correct manner is a must, but coming of right people to the power is also necessary.

All conscious citizens want the election to be held in time. They want good politicians to rule the country. So it is necessary to complete the preparations to hold the elections in time. That needs flawless voter Identity Cards (IDs) and barring the corrupt or people with corruption charges from contesting in the elections to make the polls fair and acceptable to all.
