Addressing traffic problem

NO doubt, the main challenge for the present government is to reduce the extent of corruption to a tolerable limit before holding an acceptable election. At the same time, it has been facing yet another challenge of reining in the soaring prices of essential commodities. The caretaker government has so far tried its best to carry out these duties and is still trying hard to get success in these regard.
But apart from these two responsibilities, I believe, this government has another task to accomplish. This is about irritating, tiresome and horrible traffic problem. The present caretaker government should give due importance to the job of improving the traffic system. One would find that hardly anyone abides by the traffic rules or uses his or her sense that is needed in public places.
It is true that we have a number of deficiencies in the traffic system and the policy level lapses in implementing traffic-related programmes. But, I believe, most of these problems could be solved only by motivating people to be disciplined on the streets. Discipline is the key to achieving all kinds of development. The more a nation is disciplined the more the it can advance. Discipline ensures, smoothness in movement and, even good sense among the people on the streets. In addition, it will make people more active than ever and its reflection will obviously be seen in other cases too.
So it is our utmost request to the government that it should take a realistic plan on improving traffic system primarily by motivating people to strictly follow traffic rules. Penalising violators of traffic rules would not bring any change, at least in the case of our country. If the street users are made aware of the need for abiding by traffic rules, only then the situation will improve on the streets. And then other programmes on traffic system improvement will automatically get successes.
