Admission on the basis of lottery

EDUCATION is not an opportunity but a fundamental human right. Getting admitted to Class One is also a child's fundamental right. It is unexpected that reputed schools in the capital city should demand 'donations' for admission to Class One.
Viqarrunnessa Noon School is reportedly going to admit children on the basis of lottery. We think it is fair if it is done after a primary selection on the basis of some simple criteria. Some children who are students of Class Three/Four of other schools appear at the admission test for Class One at Viqarrunnessa Noon School. This is unfair to genuine students.
Guardians and all concerned should accept admission on the basis of lottery. Holycross, Mohammadpur Preparatory School, YWCA and others have already achieved a good reputation by introducing the lottery system.
It is alleged that some owners of coaching centres are goading guardians to form human chains in protest against this system. Guardians should bear in mind that to send children to the coaching centres for receiving private tuition before seeking admission in any of these reputed schools is not good for the future of our children.
