Awful garbage carrying

GARBAGE carrying in day time has unfortunately remains yet a regular activity. It is no overstatement to say that Dhaka has turned into a city of garbage in many of its sections under the present system of garbage disposal. Garbage remains heaped up in some areas of the city long past their carrying away time. When the cleaners come, they usually leave behind substantial garbage that overflows from the storing bins.
The garbage trucks move in open view during the day with their odious contents without covers. The garbage dumping sites are located well within the metropolitan areas adjacent to residential areas. The sites are poorly maintained; these are supposed to be layered frequently to guard against the spread of bad smell and bacteria. But the concerned authorities hardly engage in this activity. Rather, the excuse is often made about the shortage of trucks and cleaners in doing a better job. To most city dwellers, it, however, needs no imagination to realise that it is not such shortage but poor supervision of the cleaning squads which result in such unsatisfactory garbage disposal.
