BBC and PSC

THE recent news story entitled "Dhaka [BCS] exams row sparks violence" on BBC website (Tuesday, December 02, 2008; url: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7761285.stm) does not seem to meet the usual BBC standard of neutrality and fairness. The person who made the report seems to be biased to the 'controversial' incumbent authorities and against the demands of the protesters.
Even if there were any irregularities in the selection process of 27th BCS, the overwhelming majority of the candidates who got selected were qualified on the basis of their merit and competence. And such 'irregularities' are not foreign to BCS examinations, irrespective of which political party is in power.
We note a clear political bias on the part of those who are manning the top positions in the PSC. This is thought to be the main reason why the results of the 27th BSC examination were cancelled. My honest observation on the BBC coverage of Bangladesh is that one particular political party scores quite well in terms of getting the dividend of its news stories.
