CG to score well on prices

July 20, 2007 00:00:00

The interim caretaker government(CG) is seen to be doing many good things. From depoliticising the administration to taking tough actions against corrupt persons, it is doing a great deal and the same are considered to be in line with people's expectation.
But there are mundane things but no less important from the people's point of view that require also the zestful activity of the government. Normalisation of prices is one such main issue.
If a survey is conducted now, it will very possibly show up that the anti-corruption drive of the government and its preparatory moves to set the stage for holding of free and fair elections, enjoy overwhelming support among all sections of people. But a survey of this nature could also indicate that people's expectation remain unmet in respect of a very pressing demand which is that they should be spared the sufferings of relentless price rises of essential commodities.
