Diplomatic, economic challenge

August 02, 2009 00:00:00

South Asian peculiarities pose a challenge to Bangladesh as to how we can maintain a delicate balance in our relations with China and India. A perceived tilt toward one could send misgivings on the other. An imbalance in the bilateral relations with the two Asian giants should avoided. Bangladesh needs to have good ties with both.
Another diplomatic challenge is how Bangladesh would exploit its geo-political advantage, regionally and globally. Connectivity with both the countries could be an option.
Connectivity and cooperation in the region's resource endowments could benefit Bangladesh. Oh course Bangladesh needs connectivity with the rest of the world specially where it has greater market access.
