Electricity problem

April 02, 2009 00:00:00

MY two younger sisters will appear in the HSC exams this year, set to start on April 16. They are keen to do good results. They try to study all the time. For their last revision they need to study a lot. But they cannot do it due to load shedding.
Our village, Islampur under Faridganj upazila in Chandpur experiences loadshedding everyday from 7:00 PM to 10 PM.
At midnight and noon also we do not get electricity. It is a problem for the whole nation. It could affect my sisters' results.
Last year also the caretaker government failed to provide needed electricity. But it tried to provide electricity during the HSC examinations. They succeeded somewhat. Now not only the examinees but also the guardians are worried.
Round the clock power supply during the exams is a normal expectation.
This government came to power pledging change and showing the target dream of Digital Bangladesh. How could Bangladesh be digital without electricity? We know of developed countries where electricity is available round the clock. People in those countries do not know what is load shedding.
I heard America experienced loadshedding only once and for five minutes. This is also our dream. It would be our request to the administration to solve this problem permanently. It should install more plants.
