Environment-friendly jute geo tex

November 12, 2009 00:00:00

THE Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) has recently invented an environment-friendly jute geo textile, in co-operation with India and the United Nations (UN).
Synthetic geo textile, used for making roads across the world, is more expensive and less effective compared to the jute geo textile. This new product can be used to control erosion by the river more effectively, to save cultivable land.
In flood-prone Bangladesh and India, this product can be very useful. Stronger than synthetic jute, geo textile can protect our roads from floods.
Again, unlike the new jute product, synthetic geo tex does not allow roadside plants to grow. Jute geo tex will enable us to grow plants by the roads and embankments to make the soil stronger and the embankments more enduring.
