For leaders with abilities, vision and character

Our greatest failings have been in the sphere of leadership. Blessed with able, committed, dedicated and somewhat selfless and cooperative leaderships, Bangladesh could perform no less than the Asian success stories of today. The rate of advancements in different spheres could be far greater if our leaders or the ones who had been supremely in charge of the country's governance were truly enlightened, fully capable of addressing the developmental and economic challenges, well-intentioned and motivated to be also tolerant and learnt to cooperate with each other.
The politics of a country can be the single most important vehicle for its rapid socio-economic progress. But Bangladesh remains handicapped by a political environment the characteristics of which are the intolerance of its political leaders , their unbridled chauvinism at the cost of the country and their lack of vision.
The greatest need for this country is to have the sort of leadership it needs to really take it forward. This would be the strongest prescription of those who take time out to think about the state of the nation . Our polity or civil society shall have to create the clamour in favour of a new stream of positive, enlightened and dedicated leadership to steer the country to realize its full potentials in the future. Various international ratings has put Bangladesh among 11 countries which are most likely to be the next economic powerhouses in the near future provided their governance proves to be equal to their potentials.
Bangladesh has missed the bus, very regrettably, for the last thirty-nine years. It cannot absolutely afford to go on wasting time and opportunities in this fatal manner.
