Four-lane Dhaka-Chittagong highway plus extra benefits

A project like the 4-lane Dhaka-Chittagong highway can bring various advantages if the implementors of the project work dedicatedly. Good news as per available information's from daily papers that the construction work of highway with 4- lane between capital city, Dhaka and main port city Chittagong will start soon. It is a very popular demand of the common peoples and present government has taken the issue very seriously to complete the project before the end of its tenure. When completed, communication and transportation of commodities between two important cities will be easier with less cost and accordingly help increase economic activities of the whole country as well. Let us hope that the project may be completed as per schedule and the government under the leadership of present prime minister gets opportunity to be honoured and proud for accomplishing such a gigantic project.
Ours is a poor nation with financial limitation. We have many desires but those desires always remain unfulfilled due to shortage of money. It is known that money for implementing a 4-lane Dhaka-Chittagong highway project has already been managed from different donor agencies including some portion by the state. Since we have limited resources, we must be careful to utilise the money properly.
Another important commitment of the present government to the nation is to make all dead rivers and channels navigable. There are many rivers and channels in and around the present highway. It needs huge earthwork to shape a 4-lane highway and that earthwork can be executed with the supports by dredging and excavating rivers and channels flowing beside the present highway. If followed, there remains tremendous scopes to earn incremental benefits which are: 4-lane highway will become a reality; rivers and channels will be dredged and excavated providing irrigation facilities; rivers and channels of those areas will be navigable and result of which will benefit transportation of commodities and easy communication for people; and, environment will be free from pollution.
It is an ardent call to the authority to realise that the nation can enjoy maximum benefits in many ways if plans like this are practiced and adopted.
