March 12, 2010 00:00:00
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on March 4, inaugurating the first-ever Digital Information Fair-2010 at Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre, pledged to build Digital Bangladesh by 2021. She said, ''If we can attain Digital Bangladesh, payment of utility services bill, purchasing rail ticket through mobile phones, taking health services from upazila doctors at villages and providing important information about life and livelihood from the union parishads through internet would be at the door steps of the people.''
The prime minister also added that achieving the goal of a digital country, we need to change our mindset first. At the same time we have to find out how best we could utilise of our limited resources by making optimum use of IT.
The pledges made by her are all for betterment of the country. But she must also see that these are properly implemented.
We all hope for the dream of a Digital Bangladesh to come true.
