Improve transmission system
January 08, 2008 00:00:00
THE present transmission system is contributing to the inefficiency in power supply from their frequent disabled conditions at many places. The need for repair works of the transmission system is a one of the major causes for frequent power outages in many places of the country. It appears that substantial replacement and upgrading of the transmission system could go a long way in reducing the immediate power related problems of the consumers. But corruption must be whittled down first to get any benefit out of spending on works for repairs and rehabilitation.
It is important to undertake activities to minimise the power crunch. The interim government has attached due priority to power production. The overhauling and maintenance works of the generation units must be completed very quickly with close supervision of the top people of the relevant ministry.
