Even though the series win was against a second string team (so to say), they still wore the colours of the West Indies and the records will show Bangladesh won all the Tests in the series as well as all the ODI games against WI. These wins come at a time when the country is in a little bit of turmoil. Our boys did well, fought hard and in the end victory was theirs. The only problem with the West Indian players was that with the exception of a few, they were all inexperienced at this level of the game. Otherwise, they could bat, bowl and field as could be seen. Also, many of our batsmen really played well something which only a few WI batsmen could replicate. And the Bangladesh captain Skakib al Hasan was probably the 'man of the tour'. Shakib is one of the best allrounders in the world today and he has also been called "the best finger-spinner in cricket today".
These victories brought smiles to the faces of all cricket lovers, young and old, male and female, in Bangladesh and also will go a long way to encourage youngsters to emulate their national heroes. All our boys need to do is carry on from here. In my own way I would humbly like to congratulate the Bangladesh cricket team in this win against the West Indies through your esteemed newspaper and pray they grow from strength to strength.
However, the last game, the only T20, was something I wish I had not seen staying up late, specially the way the Bangladesh batsmen got out was simply unacceptable. It was a bit of a blotch at the end of a fantastic series.
