Due to global recession, the job opportunities for our workers abroad are shrinking. Many countries have stopped accepting new workers. And few others are sending the Bangladesh workers back to the country.
Bangladesh depends on remittance earnings for its development. If these workers are sent back at this rate, it will hamper the economy.
The workers of Bangladesh had made a good impression abroad. The government should be able to exploit this advantage to create employment opportunities in host countries. It needs to convince the host countries to create more opportunities for the Bangladeshi workers.
The Bangladeshi workers are often accused of over-staying beyond the period mentioned in their visas. The matter should be closely monitored to change the impression.
The government should open training to impart skills training before workers are sent abroad. Now, many of our workers in abroad are unskilled. Skilled workers will motivate foreign employers to recruit more workers from our country.
