People's feeling about CG

July 22, 2007 00:00:00

WHAT has been the reaction of all sections of people in Bangladesh to the second caretaker government (CG) that was constituted last January? The reactions have by and large been positive.
The people in general expressed a feeling of deliverance from evil and impending catastrophe as the CG under chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed took charge.
The country had seemingly become like a mail train without brakes. Now, people feel somewhat confident that there is some authority who, in a guardian-like manner, would be employing the powers and the authority of the state to stop this country from the self destructing path.
If anyone really cares to know what feelings are pulsating among most countrymen today, they would not miss particularly that the strong feeling of the ordinary citizens is for the things to move forward steadily in accordance with a focussed agenda.
Indeed, as far the people are concerned, they would like to see firm and decisive decisions in some vital areas of national life coming from the government. At the same time, they would expect it to do the needful to arrest the price-rise of essential commodities.
