Personal manner, politics and law and order

I just hope that the incident I witnessed is not being played out at other places. This happened inside a minibus. It was packed and it suddenly braked near Shahbagh. Those who were not alert were thrown against the next citizen. There was some pushing and shoving. Nobody was hurt but one person took an exception to another's knocking against him violently.
He remarked that people should be careful and hold onto things for their own safety as well as the safety of others. Offended the person, who was sitting (the other person against whom he had crashed was standing), said that he had not expected the driver to brake so violently and that this was the front seat and there was nothing to hold on to.
One caustic remark led to another when the man who was standing said that the other must be a supporter of a particular political party because he thought it was the job of the others to protect him. This was totally uncalled for and an extremely frivolous remark but in the next few minutes the two nearly came to blows.
It was the fellow passengers who calmed them down and the person standing was severely admonished for the stupid remark which provoked the other person and incensed almost everyone else.
It seemed to me that some among people who are highly politicised are spoiling for a fight. What these fools seem to forget is that few of their leaders are angels.
It is therefore good that the law enforcers are out and in force to prevent incidents that may conflagrate into something worse in the days leading to the election and perhaps even afterwards.
Troublemakers must be dealt with an iron hand. Our citizens need protection from violent elements in our society who sometimes don't even wait to start a quarrel.
