Please help them

THE results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations have recently been published. This year also, like the previous years, a good number of the poor boys and girls have proved their extraordinary talent. Despite being deprived of material and financial supports, these meritorious students have obtained GPA-5 in the examination. Rana Mia is one of these poor but meritorious students. He lives in a hut at Saghata, Gaibandha. He studied on the floor of his hut and on the veranda of the mosque. His father died when he was a boy of eight months only. His mother is a beggar. He had to bear his educational expenses by selling rice his mother begged from people. When other students obtaining GPA-5 were dancing and singing in jubilation, Rana was worried about his future. He could not make sure if he would be able to continue his studies.
A few days ago, I came to know that a businessman of Rajshahi had promised to financially help a boy obtaining GPA-5 from a high school at Godagari, Rajshahi. His father is an ice-cream seller. The philanthropist businessman also declared to patronise another poor girl of the same area who had obtained GPA-5 in the SSC examination this time. She is the daughter of a betel seller.
I do fervently appeal to the well-to-do individuals and organisations to extend their helping hands towards these poor and meritorious students to check their dropout. God will grant the patrons of the orphans and destitute the best remuneration as He has promised in the sacred scripture as well as the prophetic traditions.
