A few days ago Indian High Commissioner, Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, called the Bangladeshis 'touts' and 'brokers'. He added that around 25,000 Bangladeshis do not return from India every year. I, like all other Bangladeshis, strongly protest and would like him to withdraw his false claim. No ambassador or high commissioner should make such disparaging remarks about the people of the country in which they are posted.
The Indian High Commissioner should note that most Bangladeshis go to India for medical purposes or as tourists and India earns from them. So, there is no basis for his information. In addition to that, the people who enter illegally into India get the help of his countrymen. The officials of both countries help all the trafficking committed through the India-Bangladesh border. So, there is nothing to blame only Bangladesh. Any high-ranking diplomat should mind his/her tongue, keep his or her dignity and act accordingly.
