Promoting sustainable growth and development

November 11, 2009 00:00:00

YOUNG citizens can work for raising awareness on ecological justice. The young, with their drive can go for advocacy to raise social awareness on ecological justice across the country. The earth's resources have enabled mankind to build civilisations. But for a better living, what the developed nations have done, resulted in global warming. Indiscriminate depletion of forests across the world also affected the ecological balance. In this irresponsibility of destruction of forests, the developing countries do not lag behind.
The planet has been polluted. Massive plantation can offset climate change. Climate change resulted from overuse of fossil fuel.
Greenhouse gas emissions is a source of growing concern.
Global meat consumption, which increased fivefold in the past fifty years, is an increasing source of methane emission. Lower methane emission can reduce global warming.
With sustained efforts, the earth can be a better place for humanity. But we have to distinguish between right and wrong. We have to support sustainable growth and development.
