Some famous and historical places and business hubs are situated in Lalmonirhat District. Many people from India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh come and go abroad via Burimari landport for educational, tourism and medical treatment purposes. Hundreds of people from the farthest corners of Bangladesh and foreigners come to visit and enjoy the sites of the famous Teesta Barrage and the historical Tin Bigha Corridor regularly. The foreign visitors and tourists always suffer for various problems like food, accommodation etc. Hardly any infrastructural development activity either in public or in private sector has taken place in such areas. For these limitations, many visitors do not dare to come and enjoy the sights at these places. Besides for business and immigration purposes, many rich persons come to Burimari landport regularly. Due to the absence of airport facility, they cannot make proper use of their time.
To overcome such barriers and help create employment opportunities, it is urgently required to set up a domestic airport at Lalmonirhat and construct tourist/picnic spots, botanical garden, zoo, child park, amusement park, parjatan hotels/ motels at Teesta Barrage, Dohogram-Angorpota (Tin Bigha Corridor), Burimari land port etc. Furthermore, facilities for Lalmonirhat-Burimari modern rail track with inter-city/special rail services will serve some useful purposes. If the proposed facilities can be provided, then a large amount of revenue can be earned by the government every year.
