Raising the investment ranking

February 11, 2008 00:00:00

Foreign investors often take their investment decisions not out of their first hand experiences in a country. They are mainly influenced by local trends of investments, and looking at policies and the regulatory framework. In international ranking, Bangladesh scores well in respect of policies pertaining to foreign investment but comes out not so impressive in the sphere of regulations. A reform of the regulations would improve the country's international ranking in business practices. It can raise the country from its low position in these ranking to place it on a higher footing. This would be a positive achievement. Increases in foreign investment in a country reflect an improvement the perception of a country as a favourable location for investments. And the perception is mainly formed on the basis of such rankings.
