Re-carpeting roads in Bashabo

Bashabo is a large residential area under Sabujbag police station in the south-east part of Dhaka metropolis. One hundred thousand people live over there. It is a planned residential area built by the then Railway Diversion Division to rehabilitate people who were affected by the shifting of Dhaka rail station from Fulbaria to Kamalapur in the 1960’s. At the beginning of the 70’s all the roads were carpeted by the then Dhaka Municipality on demand of the local people. Thereafter, only repair works were done on piecemeal basis at different times on different roads. But most the roads are not at present suitable for traffic movement –– and not even for the use of the pedestrians. Re-carpeting of all the roads is very much necessary.
I urge the Dhaka City Corporation authority to arrange re-carpeting of the roads at Central Bashabo, North Bashabo, South Bashabo and West Bashabo.
