Recognition to the meritorious students

Every year, a good number of students pass the SSC examinations with merit. These pupils get media attention for their extraordinary results. But how many of them fair equally well in subsequent exams. They become celebrities only to be forgotten afterwards.
But it is not clear why this happens. It is necessary to find out the reasons for corrective steps. The government should take special programmes so that they can keep up their performance. Something beyond one-single event meant for recognising the meritorious students should be done to help flourishment of talent on a sustained basis. Special scholarships to study abroad and sending them to suitable institutions could be among them. The government's offer of scholarship to the students from poor families, as has been announced recently by the Chief Adviser, is a right step in the right action. Follow-up actions are necessary to this effect.
We believe that such incentives would encourage the students to study hard and do their best. We must not lose the meritorious students.
