Reform vital state institutions

No elected government in the last decade and a half can claim complete or near control honesty and high character in preserving the character of vital state institutions. All of them had tampered with them in their bids to leave behind vestiges of their control even at the end of their tenures.
The most pervasive cases of interfering with the normal functioning of state institutions were noted, particularly during the tenure of the last elected government. From the top levels of the bureaucracy to the lower levels, only party loyalists were promoted to important positions. Allegations have it that even in the recruitment of civil servants, only those who were certified underhand as party supporters, were actually recruited during that period.
The politicisation of the Election Commission (EC) and other statutory public bodies is too well known. Likewise, the judiciary was allegedly similarly politicised.
Under such circumstances, life in Bangladesh became very uncertain and insecure from the misdeeds of the former ruling parties. If these misdeeds were not done, then the nation today would be running well on the high road of normalcy and well-being in all respects. Thus, it is extremely important that the present caretaker government which is doing so much good work in different areas, must have a policy in place to progressively but completely restore the health of vital state institutions before it gives up power. Without the accomplishing of this very important task, the nation's future journey will continue to be hazarded in all respects.
