People in growing members are taking an interest in looking, at first hand, the places and objects of value in their land. The result is an increasing number of internal tourists. The number of foreign visitors to Bangladesh is also rising.
However, some unfortunate happenings, at times, act as dampers. For example some tourists were snatched recently of their cash at a tourist site. Although such incidents are few but they need to be stopped totally to promote tourism.
In some of the tourist spots, these days, a type of youngsters are found teasing or molesting girls. At times they snatch or commit more serious crimes. As a result people want to avoid going to these tourist spots alone or in small groups.
Government should to take the matter of security seriously and deploy on a regular basis, adequate number of police force at the tourist spots round the year. The police force posted at tourist sites and spots need the correct motivation to do their jobs seriously because at stake are the country's image and its tourism prospects.
