Shortage of safe water
November 20, 2009 00:00:00
People, in Bangladesh, are facing severe shortage of safe drinking water. They have a few accesses to safe drinking water. Recently water demand has tremendously increased due to economic and population growth. Arsenic has been found in ground water. Thousands of people, specially the villagers have been suffering from Arsenicosis by drinking arsenic contaminated water, as they have no other option for safe water other than ground water from tube wells. For all other natural disasters such as drought, flood, cyclone and salinity of coastal areas, poor population are the greatest victims as they have a limited access to safe drinking water.
The government should consider the issue with great concern.
