The standard of educational institutions

September 02, 2008 00:00:00

SOME educational institutions face harsh criticism for their failure to provide quality education. But the contribution of some educational institutions, colleges and universities to creating skilled manpower for the country cannot be ignored. Some specialised technical institutions enjoy a reputation for supporting economic sectors of the country. brDespite all this, we could not yet meet the total need for skilled or semi-skilled people of the country. We also could not solve the curse of unemployment for hundreds of thousands of people. We often have to hire foreign workers and experts to meet the shortage in different sectors. We also could not improve the standard of educational institutions to train up the people as per the demand in the market, domestic or foreign. These institutions cannot meet the demand for jobs in the free market context. brThe curriculum of all educational institutions, including specialised ones, needs to be changed to meet the needs of the time. brbrAminur RashidbrNilkhet, New MarketbrDhaka br
