Updating the JS website

April 03, 2009 00:00:00

ACCORDING to a newspaper report on March 29 last, the Jatiya Sangsad website has been showing Jamiruddin Sircar and Abdul Hamid Siddiqui as the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker. I was astonished to read this news and thought it to be incorrect. But, on a visit to the website, I found the report to be correct.
Last updated on May 5, 2005 it remains unchanged until now. This government which came to power three months ago could not change it so far. The website shows the eighth parliament. But it is the ninth parliament with a new prime minister, new president, new speaker and new deputy speaker. All are changed. The website did not change.
It is particularly surprising because this government came to power on the slogan of "CHANGE" and DIGITAL Bangladesh. Their vision is to build a 'Digital Bangladesh' by 2021. It is not a good start for Digital Bangladesh.
The website was not changed, notwithstanding the on-going first session of the new parliament for a long period. To materialise the dream of Digital Bangladesh the government should start the work from the very beginning. The site should be updated as quickly as possible. If a newspaper can update its news every day, why the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) cannot update its site in three months.
