WASA billing system

DHAKA WASA collect Taka 14.00 per cubic meter of water supply in case of domestic consumers. But this rate is Taka 46 for commercial consumers for the same supply of one cubic meter of water. In Dhaka city, most of the multi-storied buildings comprise both the two types of consumers when WASA supplies water through one water meter to one building. Thus individual households or flats are unaware about their water consumption and WASA revenue inspectors are at liberty to fix the rate of WASA revenue. This results in corruption and underhand deals. Recently the JS parliamentary committee on LGRD ministry expressed great dissatisfactions on WASA affairs, as was published in the media. It would be correct and justified to introduce self-billing system like Titas gas or so for a year. The result will then speak about consumer sincerity cum honesty. The changing of a WASA meter is a great troublesome affair involving table-to-table movement of files/actions in offices located at many points. In the context of digital Bangladesh, let LGRD ministry do something and we are sure that consumers will behave honestly, and diligently!
