IT is very unfortunate that none of the political parties, in their manifestoes, has given importance to women's demand for political empowerment. The first 10 priority areas of their manifestoes are silent about women's social and economic development. Only a few small political parties gave importance to the issues.
The manifestoes of the major parties gave importance to women as vulnerable group or deprived population of the country. But the fact is that all the political parties need women's support to go to power as women outnumber men as voters.
We know, women are guided or motivated by their male partners or family members to support what the latter consider to be right. Because of this, the leaders could expect to bag votes of many women. But could we expect that the leaders have the responsibility to attach priority to the demand of women, the majority of the voters, for security, employment, access to finance and above their role in politics?

What about the demands of women, the majority of voters?
