Messi's World Cup record — Internet

Argentina's Lionel Messi has set an incredible World Cup record following his goal against Nigeria on Tuesday.
He netted the 100th goal of the tournament and became the first player in World Cup history to score in his teens, twenties, and thirties, report agencies.
The World Cup has never been kind to Lionel Messi.
He is the prince of world football and the World Cup should be like his coronation, but for one reason or another it never has been, despite his best efforts.
Golden Boots have evaded him, World Cup glory has been denied in the cruellest of circumstances, one tournament came and went before he could even score, but finally it has given something back to him.
Even if Messi never gets his hands on the trophy, he will always have that. The Argentina star etched his name into the World Cup history books in the most Messi way possible too.
It was only fitting that it was with one unbelievable touch on his thigh, another - arguably better - on his left and a swoosh of the right boot that gave him a World Cup memory to savour.
Prior to the clash with Nigeria, the 31-year-old and his side were on the verge of another disastrous World Cup, but his and Marcos Rojo's strikes ensured safe passage through to the last 16 where they will meet France this weekend.
Messi's feat is something that is unlikely to be repeated anytime soon and he is only too deserving of it - not only because of his talent but because of his fortunes on the world stage.
His first World Cup goal came in 2006 against Serbia and Montenegro - his debut at the tournament which saw him become the youngest Argentine to play at the World Cup at just 18 years old.
Messi would have to wait until 2014 to score his second goal at the age of 27 - his form in 2010 under Diego Maradona saw him fail to net in the tournament - a brilliant solo effort in a 2-1 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
