Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman became the fastest Asian fast bowler to take 100 ODI wickets, report agencies.

The left-armer dismissed Haris Sohail during his team's last league match of the World Cup against Pakistan at Lord's to achieve the feat in his 54th match.

Mustafizur ended with figures of 5/75, his second successive five-wicket haul of the 2019 World Cup.

Mustafizur now shares the record with former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond, while Australia's Mitchell Starc holds the record (52 ODIs).

The bowler had taken five wickets against India in Bangladesh's penultimate match of the World Cup at Edgbaston.

Playing his 54th ODI match, Mustafizur Rahman completed his 100th ODI wicket. He is the fastest Bangladesh bowler and joint fourth fastest overall bowler to pick up 100 ODI wickets.

In the match, Mustafizur dismissed Imam-ul-Haq (100), Haris Sohail (6), Shadab Khan (1), Imad Wasim (43) and Mohammad Amir (8) respectively. After taking his second wicket by dismissing Haris Sohail, Mustafizur completed his 100 ODI wickets. While it was his 54th ODI, Mustafizur becomes the joint fourth fastest bowler to complete 100 ODI wickets.

On the other hand, Mustafizur Rahman also becomes the fastest bowler from Bangladesh to complete 100 ODI wickets. The left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak was the previous record holder for Bangladesh as he achieved this feat in 69 ODIs.

Mustafizur also the second fastest left-arm bowler to complete 100 ODI wickets

Also, Mustafizur Rahman is the second fastest left-arm bowler to complete 100 ODI wickets. Only the Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc achieved this feat faster than Mustafizur as he completed 100 ODI wickets in 52 ODIs.

Mustafizur Rahman just finished the ongoing 2019 World Cup with 20 wickets. No other Bangladesh bowlers have ever taken more than 13 wickets in a World Cup edition.

Mustafizur is in the second position in the most wickets list of the ongoing 2019 World Cup. Only Mitchell Starc is ahead of him in this list with 24 wickets in this CWC.
