NEW DELHI, Aug 06 (Xinhua): The death toll in Tuesday's fire in Delhi has risen to six and 11 injured people are admitted in a hospital, out of whom seven are said to be in a critical condition, a senior official of the Delhi Fire Services Department told Xinhua over phone.
Among the dead are two women and three children, added the official.
The fire broke in the wee hours of Tuesday in Southeast Delhi's Zakir Nagar area.
"We rescued 11 people from the spot. A total of six persons died and 11 got injured, including seven in serious condition. Rescue work at the spot has been completed," said Delhi's Chief Fire Officer Atul Garg.
According to him, the fire broke out at around 2:30 am local time. Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot, but they faced difficulty in reaching the ill-fated five-storey building which had caught fire as there were narrow lanes to approach it.
"The fire tenders had to take a longer route from behind the residential colony to reach the spot," he added.
