ISLAMABAD, Oct 15 (agencies): Pakistan's military says Indian forces have fires across the border into the Pakistan-administered portion of the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, wounding four children.
In a statement, the military said Pakistan also returned fire late Tuesday after coming under attack in the Nakial sector.
State-run Pakistan Television reported that India again opened fire before dawn Wednesday.
Exchanges of fire are common along the tense and heavily guarded Line of Control in Kashmir, which is divided between nuclear-armed rivals Pakistan and India. Fighting has intensified since Oct. 5, when violence erupted in the region during the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.
So far, the cross-border fire has killed 20 people on both sides. The violence is the most serious violation of a 2003 cease-fire agreement between the two nations.
Another report adds: More than 300,000 people including minority Shiites and Hindus have fled Pakistan's southwestern province of Baluchistan over the past 10 years due to growing unrest, a rights group said Wednesday.
Resource-rich but poor Baluchistan is in the midst of its fifth armed uprising against the Pakistani state, which began in 2004, while Islamist violence featuring sectarian groups like Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) has also surged in recent years.
Tahir Hussain Khan, president of the Baluchistan chapter of the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, said: "The figure of 300,000 is a considerable figure. The actual number of migrants may be higher but we could only authenticate this."
Khan said the Hazara ethnic group was worst hit by the unrest, with as many as 200,000 of them relocating to Pakistan's major cities or abroad.
