Iran strikes US military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain

GAZA, July (Agencies): Iran’s military said on Friday it launched drone strikes targeting US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, as resumed fighting between Iran and the US threatens to engulf the whole Middle East region.

Kuwait’s army destroyed drones that entered its airspace on Friday morning, the armed forces said on X, adding that there was material damage due to falling debris but no casualties.

The army said “Iranian aggression” had targeted a number of vital and military installations.

The Iranian army said in a statement it targeted “fighter aircraft shelters, satellite communications systems and equipment storage facilities at Ahmad Al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait.”

The Iranian army said the strikes came “in response to the recent aggression by the terrorist US military against our country and its brutal attack on a residential home on Qeshm Island.”

Local media reported on Thursday that three members of a family were killed in US strikes on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz waterway crucial for oil and gas trade.

Meanwhile, India continues to supply arms to Israel despite a "substantial risk" of them being used in the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, according Amnesty International.

In a report shared with Al Jazeera, the Britain-based rights group said India has "forged a close and profitable partnership with the Israeli defence sector and has become a significant contributor to the supply chains that support Israel's military operations".

Amnesty investigators reportedly analysed 2,596 shipments of weapons, ammunition, parts and components sent from India to Israel since Oct 7, 2023, when Israel launched its genocidal assault on Gaza.

According to the group, Indian companies supplied at least 390,516 small-arms parts for military-grade weapons, 564,970 explosive ordnance components, including drone warheads and artillery shell casings, and 298 military vehicle components to Israeli military suppliers.

Amnesty said shipment trade data was used to trace exports to Israeli companies supplying the country's armed forces.
