Israel army kills Palestinian woman on checkpoint

RAMALLAH, Sept 18 (Xinhua): Palestinian Health Ministry on Wednesday declared that a Palestinian woman was shot dead at Qalandia military checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem cities for allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli soldier.

The ministry said the 50-year-old woman, whose name was not revealed, died of bleeding wounds early in the morning.

Israeli army said that the woman was shot after being discovered with a knife, attempting to stab an Israeli soldier.

Palestinian sources said that the army forces were seen deploying quickly at the checkpoint after a woman took a wrong lane at the checkpoint and shot her in the leg.

No witnesses confirmed that she received medical aid immediately after being shot.

No other injuries were reported.
