LILLE, Mar 03: Dozens of migrants scrambled aboard a cross-Channel ferry late Saturday in the northern French port of Calais, sparking a vast overnight police sweep of the ship, officials said on Sunday. Some 100 migrants, trying to reach Britain, broke through the port's perimeter and "around 50 of them managed to get aboard a ferry" which had just arrived from Dover, in England, senior regional official Jean-Philippe Vennin said. — AFP

Teen gunman opens fire on NYC street
NEW YORK, Mar 03: A teenager has been charged with opening fire on a crowded New York City street, sending several people running for cover. A video circulated by the New York Police Department showed bystanders including a little girl running as the gunman fired several shots in the Bronx on Feb. 22. No one was hit by the gunfire. Police say 16-year-old Edgar Garcia was arrested Friday and is suspected of being the gunman in the video. — AP
Norway cops nab men for stealing cyanide van
OSLO, Mar 03: Police in Norway arrested two men for stealing a van that transported poisonous cyanide to University of Oslo for research, public broadcaster NRK reported on Saturday. The vehicle transported medications as well as 25 grams of potassium cyanide, which was to be used by the university in cell research, the report said. The dose is large enough to kill up to 125 people, NRK reported. — Xinhua
Malaysia open to proposals to revive MH370 hunt
KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 03: Malaysia is open to restarting the hunt for Flight MH370 if firms come forward with credible leads and concrete proposals, the transport minister said on Sunday, five years on from the plane's disappearance. The Malaysia Airlines jet vanished in March 2014 with 239 people - mostly from China - on board, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. — AP
