S Arabia announces receiving more US troops
RIYADH, Oct 13: Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday the decision to receive additional U.S. troops, Saudi Press Agency reported. The decision was part of the directives of the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the historical ties between the two countries, the report quoted the Defense Ministry as saying. The additional reinforcement of troops and defence equipment aims to maintain regional security and face any attempts that threaten stability in the region and the global economy, the ministry said.— Xinhua

Protesters ransack UN supplies in central Mali
BAMAKO, Oct 13: Protesters demonstrating against foreign troops in Mali ransacked a dozen UN supply containers on Saturday looting electrical equipment, air conditioners and mattresses, the UN and witnesses said. Around 1,000 people had been protesting outside the local airport and a military camp housing the UN peacekeeping force, known as MINUSMA, in Sevare, near the central city of Mopti. Protesters set fire to tires on Saturday before ransacking UN containers outside the camp. — AFP

Bomb kills 11 police officers in Kenya
NAIROBI, Oct 13: Kenya's police chief says a roadside bomb has killed 11 officers on the country's southern border with Somalia. Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai said Saturday the officers' patrol car was blown up on Damajale Hare Hare road near the town of Liboi. No one has claimed responsibility for the bomb, but al-Shabab militants from Somalia are suspected. The al-Qaida-linked group has increasingly targeted Kenyan security forces in recent years. — AP
