Israeli troops kill one Palestinian
TEL AVIV, June 02: Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian in the West Bank on Thursday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said, as troops elsewhere demolished the home of a Palestinian who gunned down Israelis in an attack earlier this year. The Ministry identified the man as Ayman Mheisen, 29. The Israeli military said forces operating in the Dheisheh refugee camp in the West Bank city of Bethlehem were pelted with rocks and explosive devices, but didn't elaborate on the kind of explosives. The troops responded with live fire, according to the military. — AP
Turkey, Pakistan vow to boost ties
ANKARA, June 02: Turkey and Pakistan on Wednesday pledged to strengthen cooperation with a "strategic perspective" on both bilateral and international levels. "We are ready to further strengthen Turkey-Pakistan relations with a strategic perspective in line with the history, friendship and potential of the two countries," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a joint press conference in Ankara with visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Carbon emissions dip in China
WASHINGTON, June 02: China, the world's top emitter of carbon dioxide that causes global warming, has seen a notable dip in its emissions over the past three quarters - but it's not clear how long the drop will continue. HANOI, June 02: Vietnam has developed an African swine fever vaccine for pigs in partnership with the United States, and is aiming to become the first global commercial exporter, an official said. UN peacekeeper killed in Mali
UNITED NATIONS, June 02: A U.N. peacekeeping convoy was attacked by suspected terrorists in northern Mali on Wednesday and a Jordanian peacekeeper was killed and three other Jordanians were wounded, the United Nations said.
