Pakistan road crash leaves nine people dead
ISLAMABAD, Oct 21: A head-on collision between an ambulance and a trailer in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province left nine people dead on Monday morning, local media reported. According to the reports, an ambulance carrying a patient and his family members hit a trailer at the Head Pakka area of Mianwali, a district in the country's eastern Punjab province. — Xinhua

Researchers find Japanese warship of WWII
NORTHWESTERN HAWAIIAN ISLANDS, Oct 21: A crew of deep-sea explorers and historians looking for lost World War II warships have found a second Japanese aircraft carrier that went down in the historic Battle of Midway. Vulcan Inc.'s director of undersea operations Rob Kraft and Naval History and Heritage Command historian Frank Thompson reviewed high frequency sonar images of the warship Sunday and say that it's dimensions and location mean it has to be the carrier Akagi. — AP

Thousands protest against Haiti's president
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Oct 21: Thousands of people demonstrated on Sunday in Port-au-Prince, demanding that Haiti's President Jovenel Moise step down. "Jovenel is incapable and incompetent, he must pack his bags because Haiti must live," said one of the protesters, Jean Ronald. "It is not normal to live in such an unequal country," Ronald added, standing in front of the float of "Prophet Mackenson," a popular and controversial Haitian religious leader. — AFP

French probe into Paris Nov 2015 attacks ends
PARIS, Oct 21: French counterterrorism prosecutors have announced that the judicial investigation into the deadly Nov. 13, 2015, attacks in and around Paris has been completed. Prosecutors said 14 people have been charged in the case, including 11 who are jailed. Among them is Salah Abdeslam, the sole surviving suspect of the group of assailants who carried out the attacks. — AP

Malta cops injured in migrant centre riot
VALLETTA, Oct 21: Two police in Malta were injured and several cars torched in a riot by more than 100 migrants at an open centre near the capital Valletta early on Monday, officials said. The riot started when an allegedly drunk migrant was refused entry overnight to the centre in Hal Far, close to the airport, Interior Minister Michael Farrugia said. — AFP
