Taliban suicide bombing leaves two soldiers dead
KANDAHAR, May 27: An Afghan official says a suicide car bomb attack by the Taliban has killed at least two Afghan soldiers. Omar Zwak, a spokesman for the governor of the southern Helmand province, says four other soldiers were wounded in Sunday's attack in the Nad Ali district. He says the large explosion could be heard from far away, and that the toll could rise. The Taliban, who control several districts in Helmand, claimed the attack. — AP

'Hanuman was world's first tribal person'
NEW DELHI, May 28: Gyan Dev Ahuja, the BJP Member of the Legislative Assembly from Alwar has claimed that Hindu deity Hanuman was the first tribal person, reports the Times of India. The Indian politician says he believes that tribal peoples revered the deity because he formed an army of indigenous peoples trained by Rama. Ahuja said he was disturbed after seeing a photograph of Hanuman disrespected during the Apr 2 Bharat Bandh protest. 5.2-magnitude quake hits Fiji
HONG KONG, May 27: An earthquake of 5.2 magnitude jolted the Fiji region on Sunday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. The epicentre, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 15.7996 degrees south latitude and 173.3289 degrees east longitude. — Xinhua
