Buhari denies rumours over his ill health

ABUJA, Dec 03: Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday quashed a rumour stemming from his ill health that he had died and been replaced by a lookalike impostor from Sudan, his spokesman said. "It's real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong," Buhari said as he met with the Nigerian diaspora in Poland, where he is attending the UN COP24 climate summit in Katowice. — AFP

Trump to grant Kim's wishes

HONG KONG, Dec 03: US President Donald Trump will grant North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un his wishes if he delivers on denuclearisation, the South Korean president said on Sunday, following talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit. As officials work to arrange a second meeting between Trump and Kim, South Korea's Moon Jae-in relayed a message to reporters given to him by the US president to pass on to the North's leader. — AFP

Egypt refuses to accuse police over Italian student's murder

CAIRO, Dec 03: Egypt refuses to accuse police officers suspected by Italy of involvement in the grisly murder of an Italian student because of a lack of evidence, the authorities said. Giulio Regeni, a 28-year-old doctoral researcher at Britain's Cambridge University, disappeared in Cairo in January 2016. His body was found by a roadside bearing extensive marks of torture in a case that strained the traditionally close relations between Cairo and Rome. — AFP

Netanyahu to meet Pompeo in Brussels

JERUSALEM, Dec 03: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to Brussels on Monday, his office said, for a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Netanyahu's office said the meeting had been set last week, but provided few other details. — AP
