9 killed in Manipur ethnic clashes

GUWAHATI, June 14: Rival ethnic groups fired at each other in fresh violence in India's remote northeast that left at least nine people dead and some injured, officials said Wednesday. Security forces rushed to Khamenlok village in Manipur state's Kangpokpi district after clashes broke out Tuesday night between the Kuki and Meitei communities, said L. Japan cadet kills 2 instructors

TOKYO, June 14: Two Japanese soldiers were killed and another injured after a new recruit opened fire at a military training range in central Japan, officials say. An 18-year-old trainee was detained on the spot and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police said. They allege the male shooter fired eight times at instructors during a shooting drill in Gifu on Wednesday. A 25-year-old man was among those killed, authorities said. — BBC
