Incentive distribution on Rabi crops goes on in Sylhet division

SYLHET, Nov 11: Incentive distribution among the farmers in four districts of the division is going in full swing.

So far, 9,341 farmers received the incentive through the upazila committees for farming Rabi crops.

More than 50 per cent of the programme has so far been completed, an official informed.

In Sylhet, some 1,470 farmers have been given incentive for Boro cultivation, 1,560 for maize, 1,500 for mustard and some 15 for BT brinjal till now.

In Moulvibazar, so far 1,110 farmers were provided incentive for Boro paddy, 420 for maize, 710 for mustard and 17 for BT brinjal.

In Habiganj, 560 farmers received incentive for Boro, 159 for maize, 675 for mustard and six for BT brinjal cultivation.

In Sunamganj, 710 farmers for Boro, 109 for maize, 245 for mustard and five growers for BT brinjal cultivation.

Under the programme, a total of 18,480 poor and grassroots farmers in the region were listed for farm assistance.

Official sources said the incentive programmee would cover 3700 bighas of maize field.

For this, a farmer got 2.0 kgs of seed, 20 kgs of DAP and 10 kgs of MoP fertilisers for one bigha of land.

A total of 2,500 growers in the region will get incentive for farming mustard in 5,500 bighas of land.

One farmer is given one kg seed, 20 kg DAP and 10 kg of MoP fertilisers for growing the oil seed in one bigha of land.

Eighty farmers of BT brinjal are getting the incentives in all the four districts.

Among them 20 farmers are in each of the districts for the incentives, the sources informed.

Of the total, 9,200 Boro farmers, 1,600 are in Sylhet, 1,400 in Moulvibazar, 2,000 in Habiganj and 4,000 in Sunamganj are getting the incentives.

In this connection, a farmer is given 5.0 kg seed, 20 kg DAP and 10 kg MoP fertilisers for one bigha land.
