Ecnec also cleared the first revision of BSCIC Chemical Industrial Park, Munshiganj Project involving Tk 16.16 billion for relocating the chemical industries and godowns of Old Dhaka to an environment-friendly place.

Held at the NEC conference room with Ecnec chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, the meeting approved a total of seven projects involving an estimated cost of Tk 101.16 billion.

"Seven projects involving Tk 101.15 billion were approved in the meeting," said Planning Minister MA Mannan while briefing reporters after the meeting.

Of the seven projects, three are new while the four are revised ones.

The minister said Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will implement 'the construction of godowns for storing chemical goods on temporary basis project' by June 2020 at a cost of Tk 794.2 billion to set up the chemical goods in a safe place relocating the risky chemical items from Old Dhaka.

Under the project, 54 godowns, two three-storey offices, one office building for BCIC, one mosque, one overhead water tank with the capacity of 0.1 million gallons of water and one underground water tank with the capacity of 0.1 million gallons of water will be constructed there.

Two effluent treatment plants (ETPs) will also be installed there, the minister said.

The Planning Minister said that the BSCIC Chemical Industrial Park, Munshiganj Project has been revised following the recent fire incident at Churihatta at Old Dhaka.
