DNCC dismantles 1,537 illegal establishments

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday conducted eviction drives in the capital, removed some 1,537 illegal establishments from footpaths and roads, and also fined several businesses Tk 268,000.
Three separate teams, led by four executive magistrates of the DNCC, conducted those drives in city's Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Khilkhet, Uttara and Mirpur areas.
Mohammad Sajid Anowar, DNCC's executive magistrate, launched the drives and removed some 800 makeshifts structures and temporary shops from footpaths and roads at Karwan Bazar and Farmgate areas.
In Mirpur's section 06 area, the DNCC executive magistrate ASM Shofiul Azam evicted 87 illegal establishments and fined some businesses Tk 220,000.
In Khilkhet and Uttara's sector 09 and 10, the executive magistrates Mohammad Abdul Hamid Miah and Md Zulkar Nayen jointly evicted 650 unauthorised establishments from the areas and fined several businesses Tk 48,000.
Such drives and mobile courts will continue in the coming days, according to a press statement issued by the DNCC on Monday.
