Why won't Mainul be given better treatment in Dhaka: HC

The High Court (HC) issued on Sunday a rule asking the authorities concerned why former caretaker government adviser Barrister Mainul Hosein should not be transferred to Dhaka for better treatment, reports UNB.

An HC bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir issued the rule after a hearing a petition filed by Mainul's wife Saju Hossain.

Home Ministry Secretary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), IGP (Prison), Rangpur Jail Authorities have been directed to come up with an explanation within a week.

Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and Abdur Rahim stood for Mainul while deputy attorney general Kazi Zinat Haq represented the state.

Earlier on November 8, the High Court asked the authorities concerned of Rangpur jail and Rangpur Medical College Hospital to conduct medical tests of Barrister Mainul Hosein and submit the reports within three days.

It also asked the authorities to provide adequate security to Mainul if he is transferred to another jail from Rangpur jail.

Meanwhile, the HC bench fixed Sunday for the hearing.
