HC directs to allow 41 Stamford graduates for Bar Council test

FE REPORT | October 01, 2019 00:00:00

The High Court on Monday directed the Bangladesh Bar Council to allow 41 law graduates of a private university of the country appear at the enrolment examination for being advocates.

The High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice SM Maniruzzaman passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by the 41 graduates of Stamford University.

Advocate AM Aminuddin and Advocate Shahjahan Akond Masum appeared in the court on behalf of the graduates.

Advocate Shahjahan Akond Musum said the High Court also issued a rule upon the Bangladesh Bar Council and other respondents to explain as to why they should not be directed to give chance to the graduates to appear in the enrolment examination to become advocates and as to why inaction of the respondents to issue registration cards and permission to fill-up forms to the 41 graduates to appear in the test-scheduled to be held on November 22-- should not be declared illegal.
