Chuadanga Hospital sees rush of diarrhoea patients

JHENIDAH, Aug 28: Chuadanga Sadar Hospital is witnessing a rush of diarrhoea patients.

More than 205 patients were admitted to the hospital in the last five days.

But against only 10 seats of the diarrhoea ward in the hospital, the patients have to lie on the floors of corridors and other places.

The doctors and nurses are passing busy time taking care of the patients.

The leave of the nurses have already been cancelled and a special team of nurses has been deployed to tackle the situation.

Md Mofiz Uddin, a diarrhoea patient, said, "I took food from outside two days ago and after that I have been suffering from diarrhoea. I was admitted to the hospital three days ago."

Senior staff nurse Rehena Parvin said, "We are busy taking care of the diarrhoea patients coming from different areas of the district."

Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Md Shamim Kabir said, "Reports have shown that people have been affecting by diarrhoea for drinking unsafe water."

There is no shortage of saline at the hospital. He suggested people not to be panicked.
